A Grandparent Day

Today was all about being a grandparent! I spent two hours at school with four of the Douglass kids—it was grandparents’ day at their elementary school.

I went to four different grades, participated in four different activities, and enjoyed every minute! It was a tight schedule—I made a craft with Shelby, watched Seth’s program, did an interview with Sam, and spent some time on the computer with Sidney.

And if that wasn’t enough to make it a great day, I spent the afternoon with the Douglass family, along with the White family and the Bridegan family at Thanksgiving Point, enjoying the tulips.

Thanksgiving Point has an annual Tulip Festival, featuring approximately 250,000 tulips, with 100 different varieties. We’ve had a wet, cold spring, so not all the tulips were in full bloom yet—you can’t rush Mother Nature! But it was beautiful, and we all agreed that next week it would be even more gorgeous!

Tonight we had a family foundation meeting—all the Gardner grown-ups getting together for dinner and our quarterly meeting. I love days like these, full of family and fun. . . .
