I’m still on a high from the grand opening for Courage Reins’ new indoor arena! It was everything and more than we expected! We called the event Celebrate Courage, and served a yummy BBQ dinner, enjoyed entertainment from David Osmond, and ended with a live auction.
Inspiring videos throughout the evening, showing clients’ therapy with the horses, helped attendees understand what Courage Reins is all about. (If you want to see a few of those sweet videos, go to couragereins.org) Everyone was especially touched to hear Sterling share how he got involved eighteen years ago, why he’s still passionate about Courage Reins, and how the arena will allow the program to grow and continue to improve lives.
After serving with such fabulous volunteers on the event committee for so many months, it was extremely rewarding for us to see everyone’s efforts pay off! We had hoped for 350 people and ended up selling out at 465 seats, which meant we made 465 horseshoe favors too! The décor was beautiful, the pace of the program was perfect, and we raised over $175,000.00, exceeding our goal and more importantly exposing others to the wonderful mission of Courage Reins. I’m already excited to begin planning our next year’s event!
