Neighbor Gift Challenge

Most of you are a lot more organized than I am, right? I haven’t even started to think about my “neighbor” gifts this year, but I bet a lot of you have already got them made and maybe even distributed!

I’m sure you know what I mean by neighbor gifts—the smaller, more affordable gifts that we give to our neighbors, co-workers, and other people whom we want to thank during the holiday season.

Anyway, I could sure use some great ideas. Those of you who already know exactly what you’re creating for your neighbor gifts, please inspire me (and anyone else who is still looking) by sharing your ideas! And if you don’t know what you’re doing yet but get it figured out before the end of the month, it’s not too late. I want to see your ideas too!

And the neat thing about neighbor gifts is that we can use these ideas all year long for fun gift-giving. All it usually takes is changing out a color palette or switching an image or substituting accessories, and you can pretty much use an idea any time of the year.

So, while I know it’s a busy time of year, hopefully you’ll be able to share something you’ve already made (or need to make anyway). I can’t wait to see your ideas—and Merry Christmas!

This is a quick and easy gift to have in your purse--ready for a store clerk who's especially helpful or friendly. These little candy treats are also perfect for quick neighbor gifts if you find yourself short on time!
(certainly common at this busy time of year)

One thing I'm making this year is a Christmas version of these little boxes I made using the Movers and Shapers Big Shot die. The link below is to a sample and video from early August -- which shows the heart shape as the window but of course I'll be making them with a Holiday window from the die set in the Holiday Mini and the embossing on the box sliding cover will be the Petals-a-Plenty. I like to give neighbors an assortment of homemade goodies and these will be perfect to hold a little homemade toffee. http://321stamp.typepad.com/321_stamp_launching_creat/2009/07/movers-and-shapers-box-video-tutorial.html

I actually started making these last spring, but they're also quick and easy for Christmas! Each of my neices and nephews are getting :) It's a painted clay pot upside down with an Ivy bowl or small fish bowl on it, then the pot saucer is used as a lid - it's a cute "Faux Gumball Machine"

I made up a different version last year to give Panera gift cards to my son's teachers and bus drivers. I think I might do a little Starbucks gift card for the postman this year. Something to keep him toasty while he's delivering my Stampin' Success magazine!

Here is the gift I have made for my next door neighbour this year. I wanted something that was specifically made with her in mind, that would be useful too. So, I created a set of "Christmas Thank-You" cards that she can send out to people after Christmas, thanking them for their gifts. I packaged them together and decorated the packaging with a handmade gift tag. I hope she likes it!

Thanks for the great challenge! I have 2 gift ideas! The first is a mirror that was decorated using metal foil and our exclusive Beautiful Butterflies die and our Textured Impressions Embossing folders. You can see the mirror at http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7YyTmXLbGBc/SwLr7wWjyKI/AAAAAAAAAoM/vKKq2mAl_2Y/s1600/IMG_3362-WM.jpg.

The second is a cute tag holder with accompanying tags. You can include holiday tags as well as tags for year-round gift giving. You can view the tag holder here http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7YyTmXLbGBc/SxcleTQ-ejI/AAAAAAAAAo8/6H4rpqjUSMA/s1600-h/IMG_3413-WM.jpg.

Last, but not least, is a simple JOY banner using the Pennant die and some felt. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7YyTmXLbGBc/SwCcRySL49I/AAAAAAAAAn0/_5NQWXGq5uU/s1600-h/IMG_3350-WM.jpg.
