SIP Challenge

The last few days have been extremely busy and hectic as I’ve been preparing for convention, and I’ve been trying to simplify things as much as I could. It was that mindset that sparked the contest idea for this month—SIP. That stands for Stamps, Ink, and Paper—a well-known acronym around the home office when we want to focus on keeping our projects simple.

So this month, that’s the creative challenge. Create your own little masterpiece using only stamps, ink, and paper. Nothing else.  Restricting myself to just these three things has always been difficult—it seems I always want to add just one more thing, so I can’t wait to see what you come up with! Hopefully something you create will inspire me to stick to SIP myself!

And now I’ve got to get back to simplifying my incredibly long to-do-before-convention list. Hope to see many of you this week. . . .

I hope watercolour paper counts as 'paper'... I am drawn to clean and simple cards, and it was fun to make a card using only stamps, ink and paper:

OK, so our "hands are tied", but can we "wiggle our fingers" with the use of tools such as punches, piercing, dry embossing, etc. as long as we stay away from adding other "product" to the card (i.e. no ribbons, heat embossing, dimensionals, brads, buttons etc.)? The term is new to me so I want to be clear. Man, this WILL be a challenge for someone like me who loves my ribbon. BUT, I love a challenge, so will don my thinking cap. Thanks for the guidance. ~Sharon

Well I am sure these probably don't qualify because they all have ribbon on them. But I thought I would submit them anyway because they really do fit the idea of being simple. It was the concept of the quick cards class I just had. Each card was simple and quick to make. I made 3 variations of each design to show my customers that night so that they would be able to see how they could use the quick and simple design with stamps they had at home. Everyone loved this class and it was the fastest one I have ever held!

Oooh! This is a good one! It was hard to find a card that didn't use a punch or ribbon or some DSP...here's one from the archives that is very clean and simple:

And technically the box on this post uses a big shot die and glitter, but I think it's the type of SIP project you're looking for:

OK, here's my "first thought" toward an SIP project...an early start on Christmas:

Thanks for pushing us outside the box Shelli...this is a fun one!

I'm pretty shy about my creations and normally don't post them anywhere. But, I'm trying to change that. Here is an entry for the SIP challenge. Thanks for looking. : )

Well, I don't know that I'm finished with this challenge yet, but it got me past a scrappers block! I wanted to get some zoo pictures scrapped using the Animal Stories stamp set and the Tall Tale DSP, so I went WAY WAY WAY outside the box to create this layout. The color in my pictures is a little off and I was too excited to wait for the crystal effects to dry, but I created a layout that has less linear and more collage style to it than my normal layouts. Hope you like it!

Not sure if this qualifies because I used my Big Shot on my paper...but here are my post it note holders. http://renaestamps.blogspot.com/2009/08/antique-store-set-3.html (the butterfly ones...the other ones I used markers and blender pens)

weeeeeeeelll, this challenge is tougher than it looks! I hope my card qualifies even though I've used some embossing and crystal effects? Otherwise, I've used just stamps, ink, and paper!

Again, I'm not sure if this qualifies...I used a few punches. Otherwise it is all SIP!

This is an old post dedicated to my parents. It uses ribbon, but otherwise it is pretty much ink, paper and stamps! Thank you. Jackie http://jackotterstamp.blogspot.com/search/label/Mom%20and%20Dad

Love the idea of going back to the basics. I think we can get to crazy with our cards and all the extra stuff sometimes. Thanks for returning us to our "roots".

Okay, I can't believe this, but I am actually entering your contest again! I never get this inspired! Maybe you should have titled it SIP - Simple is Perfect!

This was quite a challenge but I am happy with how this card turned out. Now that my brain is into the mode of SIP, I may have to try a few more.
