Happy Heart Day

When I started thinking about this month’s creative challenge, the subject matter was obvious—we can’t ignore Valentine’s Day (the next holiday), can we?

I was thinking of making it really challenging by asking that you use nontraditional color palettes, but that just didn’t seem right. I mean, of all holidays, Valentine’s Day pretty much demands reds, pinks, and whites, doesn’t it? So I just couldn’t make that request. (Although you’re welcome to use nontraditional colors if you’d like!)

So, I didn’t think much more about it. It seemed right to make it fairly straightforward—any Valentine’s Day project.

I’m excited to see what you come up with, because this is one holiday-related challenge that we can actually use the project ideas long after the holiday is over. I’ve always thought that we ought to let our loved ones know we love them year-round, so the things we do on Valentine’s Day are really things we could do all year long—including giving hand-stamped expressions of our love!

So have a wonderful time this month, creating to your heart’s content!

Now that Christmas is over, I'm starting to think ahead to Valentine's Day. I can't wait to get my hands on the new heart-shaped sweet treat cups. In the meantime, I made this card with the circle cups and the Sweet Centers stamp set from the Holiday Mini.

Ok, I don't really have any heart stamps as I am not very mushy but thought that I would give this a try using my heart shaped punch and a card I just made recently that I loved. I changed out the butterflies for the hearts and I think this would make a great Happy Heart day card for someone special. Hope you all agree: http://stampscrapdiva.blogspot.com/2010/01/happy-heart-day-challenge.html

Oh my gosh, this is one of my favorite themes (next to Christmas)! I hope we can submit more than one project. I did two cards and a Bitty Box for the Stampin' Addicts Occasions Mini blog tour which can be found here: http://heartsdelightcards.blogspot.com/2010/01/welcome-to-tour.html

I'll be doing lots more this month, too!

What a wonderful challenge for February Shelli! I absolutely agree - every day is a wonderful day to express our love for those we share our lives with. This is a "box of love" with some cards to share throughout the year http://myfigments.blogspot.com/2009/12/box-of-love.html.

I guess pink and purple are still pretty traditional colors, right? ;-)

A few years ago a friend made a cute card with X's and O's on the front for hugs and kisses. When I saw the new Heart of Hearts Embosslit, I couldn't wait to use it in place of an O for XOX. Here's my Valentine:

Hi Shelli,
I made this card for my hubby on our anniversary this week but could be easily done for Valentine's Day too. I love it! Plus it's very non traditional colors!
