Holiday Celebration in Riverton

In a teleconference call with Stampin’ Up! demonstrators on Wednesday, we talked about traditions, and one tradition that I mentioned is the Christmas celebrations we have at Stampin’ Up!—both at our home office in Riverton and our manufacturing facility in Kanab. We had our Riverton party yesterday, and I wanted to share a lot of photos with you and a few thoughts about these wonderful moments I get to spend with Stampin’ Up! family members.

The Riverton celebration begins with our own Stampin’ Up! choir sharing its talents with us (and they have a lot of talent to share!). They walk around the building before the official festivities begin, singing and getting people in the holiday mood. Then we all gather in the atrium for cookies and hot chocolate, while the choir sings several more songs. I love listening to our choir, and can’t imagine the holidays without them.

Then I get to share a few thoughts. This year I talked about Mom Heather, who died one year ago next week. I mentioned how strongly I feel about spending time with those you love all year long, but especially during the holidays, and how important it is that we enjoy this time of year, even if it means we have to take a project or two off our plates. And of course, I thanked everyone for everything they do to make Stampin’ Up! successful!

We also recognized Stampin’ Up! staff members who have been with us five and ten years. (We also recognize fifteen years, but this year there weren’t any in Riverton; we don’t have very man of those—yet!). We give out service awards ($500 for five-year employees and $1,000 for ten-year employees), and this year we had 64 fabulous people who have been with us this long.

One of the employees said it best when she looked around the packed atrium and said, “This is one of my favorite things we do. There’s such a great feeling of camaraderie here. For those of us who have worked at other jobs, we know how special this is, and for those whose first job is here—well, they just don’t know how lucky they are!”

I absolutely agree! I can’t express in words the love and gratitude I feel for the dedicated, gracious, and kind people we have working at both places, and to see so many of them gathered together is always overwhelming. I teared up more than once today! I’m already looking forward to next week, when we’ll enjoy a similar celebration in Kanab.

I think it's every demonstrator's dream to come and work at SU! When we see pictures like these, go to Convention and visit the Riverton facility, it's just all so breathtaking. Maybe someday, when my kiddos are out of the home, I will convince my husband to move there so that I can see if I can get hired - heck, I'd be a mail-girl (do you even have those?!?!) just to work there ;) I know a few ladies who do work in Riverton and their stories always make me appreciate SU! and you, and all that you do to help us demonstrators make our experience with SU! all that we want it to be. Thank you Shelli!!

I do so enjoy reading your blog every time it is updated! I have a minor problem with my eyesight and was wondering if you could wrangle a way to make the photos you post a bit bigger with a click? I look forward to every pic. and post and want to be able to see the pics. better!

BTW, Marie said it perfectly for me! Dream job, dream environment and dream boss- who can resist?:)

HUGS and more HUGS to you Shelli. The poor eyesight doesn't stop me from stamping nor does it stop me from realizing the beauty of the Stampin' Up! sisterhood!

Oh Shelli! I have been out of work since 6/07 and so would like to work for you, in the office that is! LOL I have been a secretary 37 years so it's not like I do not have experience. Being a member of the SU family looks like a dream come true for anyone that is lucky to get a job in the Riverton office....if you need any type of office worker, please contact me!

The office party looks like a blast and love that you have your own choir that includes our one and only Jaron Winder....he sure can sing!!!

Happy Holidays to all. Thanks for all your hard work getting the website out, our orders out in a timely manner especially this holiday season. My customer ordered the Big Shot bundle and it showed out of stock last week and she received everything yesterday! You made me soooooo happy but mostly my new BEST customer!

Again thanks for all you do!!

Working in the coporate America and also being a Stampin' Up! demonstartor, I have to say coporate world in America should really take a lesson from how Stampin' Up runs their company and treats their employees.
You are a wonderful group of people, a wonderful company and demonstrators really appreciate all that the coporation does!

At my second Convention (Las Vegas, '03!) we sat there during Awards Night and ohh'd & ahh'd at how well everyone was doing. My husband came with me & played golf during the day while I "played" with my demo friends and learned (and he hasn't missed a Convention/Golfing Week since!). He also joins us for Awards Night and enjoys it (almost) as much as we do. After this particular Awards Night he talked about what a fun time it was, how energetic it was and how great SU! is! He followed that with one of the biggest compliments he could give...he said, "If we lived here, I would GLADLY work for Shelli! She truly loves her employees and it shows." This comes from a man that has worked Corporate America for more years than he cares to count and HATES working for women (for VERY good reasons that I won't even begin to go into here!!)!

After this past Convention, I asked him if he would still work for you if we lived in the area and he said, "ABSOLUTELY!! She hasn't changed in all these years and I have a great deal of admiration for her from what I've seen here and what I've seen through you." You just don't know how happy that made my heart! :c) BTW: He's not the only one with a great deal of admiration for you!

Hi Shelli
This is to thank you for allowing guests to attend Celebrate '08. I went with my demonstrator Patty Cloward and had the most wonderful time. I have been dreaming that you will allow guests again in '09. My daughter didn't get to attend because of work, but would love to attend and learn more about Stampin Up. We only use Stampin Up products as a result of my trip.
Thank you for considering my request,
Nanci

Wanted to share an idea for you all to create a commemorative Holiday ornament to sell November to demonstrators - or use it as incentive for customers to purchase items. I know I am a big ornament collector and a unique ornament from Stampin Up would be a welcome addition to my collection!
