Leadership Leftovers

At leadership, I showed several projects that weren’t put online for Leadership attendees, and during my presentation, I promised I’d post them on my blog—so here they are!

There are three cards, all made with our newest stencils (Elegant Trio and Folk Flowers). Two (Thanks for Being You and Thanks So Much) use the emboss resist technique; the third one (R card) uses pastels and the stencil.

I love stencils! Stencil images can be the focal point or create a fabulous background—on cards, scrapbook pages, or any other crafting project. And don’t forget that our stencils can be used on walls too. Did I mention that I love stencils?

The last one (Life card) I showed at the very end of Leadership, and it features the surprise sneak peek set that we gave away. This set (Elements of Style—I think) isn’t available until our next mini catalog, but I wanted to show at least one project you could make with it. I’m sure our lucky leadership attendees will be coming up with many of their own ideas in the weeks to come!

Leadership attendees loved our quilt block giveaway as well. We gave every demonstrator a quilt block; each block featured the same basic pattern and one of four different color palettes. These were made from our Big Shot dies, and highlight one of the many ways you can use the dies, in addition to papercrafting.

I showed three products that were made from the quilt blocks—the apron, pillow, and hot pad. (If you’re interested in the apron pattern, I picked it up at a local quilting store called The Material Girls Quilts. The store’s website is www.thematerialgirlsquilting.com, although I didn’t see the pattern online. It must be a newer pattern.)

Whether you attended leadership or not, hopefully these projects spark a little creativity!

Thanks so much for remembering the post the photos, I LOVE my quilt square and can't wait to show it to my quilting friends. I still can't believe the SU employees in Kanab made 1000 of those beauties just for us...how awesome!

I have been fortunate enough to attend 6 Leadership conferences over the past 6 years and they were all great but this past conference in Phoenix really takes the cake, I can't imagine how it could ever get any better than that! Thanks for all you do for us! Jan

Shelli,
GREAT projects! Every time I see things made with fabric, I think "wouldn't it be cool if SU had our own fabric line that matches our colors and DSP"? Any possibilities of that happening?

I LOVE that piece of furniture in the picture that's behind your apron. That room has inspired me to clean up MY stamp room! I added a nice piece with drawers large enough to put our Grid Pads in. Another has by Bigz XL Cutting Pads. I'm in stampin' heaven!

Dearest Shelli!!! Thank You so very much (this is where you'd get the Obnoxcious jump up and down HUG!!! But it's less offensive/dangerous online!! Ha!!) for the INCREDIBLE Surprise of our Quilt Block! They are Beautiful and have such a Sentimental feel knowing "Our Kanab Family" made them for us!!!
Ever Grateful to ALL you do,
Tracy Altemose (aka Diana Gibbs BFF)

PS I love the link to your Blog on Our NEW and AMAZING Stampin'Connection

Thank you, thank you, Shelli for a fabulous leadership. Having attended all of them since the beginning, this one ranked right up there with DisneyWorld and the Animal Kingdom in 1999 which remains my favorite, of course! The quilt square was such a blessing as I have started promoting the Big Shot to my quilting friends and am going to join the local quilt guild. Jill was inspiring to those of us whose quilting has long taken a back seat to stamping. Bless everyone at SU for a wonderful event. A big hug to you all!

Hi Shelli,

Thanks for posting these projects! I love the "shabby chic" look and gave my hand a try at it this weekend (a thank-you note for my fabulous baker) and was quite pleased with how it turned out. I have a question for you regarding the splattering... do you always use the colour spritzer tool, or is there another way to get the effect. It seems to me you mentioned a paintbrush once? How do you get the look without the mess?

Thank you for posting the samples. They are all beautiful. I am a quilter and am so excited to see someone using the Big Shot to promote ease in cutting out pieces for quilting. I can hardly wait to use it for my own projects. Leadership was awesome!!

I just wanted to say after seeing these samples I may just start quilting, I didn't realize that the Big Shot was that versatile and using our dies could be so pretty. Well I guess I better add sewing to my list of activites. PS. I can't wait to see/meet you at convention. This will be my first time going and my family and I are making this our summer family trip!

I've been trying to figure out which dies were used in the quilt blocks. Can anyone help me out? I have been a quilter for many years and this is a great way to incorporate the Big Shot into fabric crafts. Awesome!!!

What fun to be able to see those cards up close! Now I can study and CASE them!!! One thing I love about being a demonstrator is all the ideas I can borrow from talented artists and share with my friends. They know I borrow and I try to give credit even when I don't thank the artist (often I don't even know the artist) but please know how much I appreciate the inspiration!
