Convention 2010--Sharing What I Loved

Convention 2010—Share What You Love is over, and I have to admit, even though it’s a ton of work and a lot of pressure, I’m sad!

My girls and I were all commenting on the let-down feeling we all had once the final session ended. There was such a feeling of energy and excitement this year, and we loved every minute of it. It’s hard to come back to real life, although I do have to admit that having a really good night of sleep last night (the first in many days!) sure felt heavenly!

I’m sure there are many blogs out there that have provided lots of convention details; I’ll just share a few thoughts. (And if you’re a demonstrator you can check out the daily current updates that are posted on the demonstrator website.)

I’ll start by sharing a quote from a thank-you e-mail I sent out to our staff:  “There was a buzz at the convention center that I haven’t experienced for quite a while, and dozens of demonstrators commented that it was the best convention in years. From demonstrators who have been a part of Stampin’ Up! for only a year or two to those who have been with us for many years, the feeling seemed to be the same.”

I really did feel a buzz around the convention center that was both invigorating and exciting. Even on Saturday, when we were all (staff and demonstrators alike!) operating on little sleep and had already been through several long days, the energy was high. It just didn’t ever seem to lessen as we moved from one fun event to the next.

Our message was very focused and simple this year—share what you love! Whether through sales, bookings, or recruiting, our demonstrators found plenty of ideas and inspiration to help them share what they love and build their businesses in the way they want to. I talked to a few demonstrators after convention was over, and they all said basically the same thing—our minds are churning with great ideas; we can’t wait to start putting those ideas into practice!

I have only one regret—I ended up spending more time backstage and in my hotel room than I normally do, preparing for whatever I was supposed to do next—and so I wasn’t able to attend the classes and other things I normally do. One of these years I’m going to be so organized that I’ll be able to get to every class, meet every deadline, and enjoy a full night’s sleep every night. . . . Well, I can dream, can’t I?

I just want to thank everyone—both staff members and demonstrators—who were involved in one of the best conventions ever!  What a joy and honor it is to be associated with you and be part of something that can bring us together and provide such fun and excitement! Thank you!

Now I’m heading to a meeting, and then we’re going up the canyon as a family for the first time this summer (I can’t believe it’s taken us this long!).  I’m very excited about that, and I’m sure I’ll be sharing canyon photos tomorrow. . . .

I didn't go to convention this year but I just loved the pictures of the displays. I only wish my Stamping Studio was big enough to put at least one of those displays in, Gorgeous! I have yet to actually get to meet you face to face, maybe at the Dallas/Fort Worth Regional?

Shelli - I totally agree, this convention was over-the-top incredible! I cannot believe how much fun and inspiration was packed into a few short days. Being a part of convention, I have a new appreciation for all of the work that goes into pulling off an event like convention! Every member SU employee was so very kind, generous, and helpful! It was an honor to be a part of such a fabulous event! Thank you Shelli!!

WOW! For my first Convention, I'm wondering how you can top that. Meeting you (again since I was little) was awesome!!! Winning $100 in the Gameshow was AWESOME and just learning and playing and sharing what we love was awesome! Thank you for EVERYTHING!
Shelli I can understand how you felt when convention was over. I have only been to two in Australia and both times it was very sad to be finished, at least this year I have an extra day to look forward to next year, thank you so very much. Have a good time at the canyon, take care, Marls

It was an awesome experience. I've been attending since my first full year with Stampin' Up and this one was definitely one of the best. Thank you for all you do to help us share what we love. Being part of Stampin' Up has been a tremendous blessing in my life. I look forward to whatever the future holds with this company. I have all the faith and confidence that you and the leadership team will do what's best for the business and us, the demonstrators. Enjoy your family get-away.

Shelli: You are so right...it was one of the best conventions ever. To enter the first day with all the staff lined up on either side of the main aisle was awesome. It set the tone for the whole convention. If anyone did not feel or share the love for SU and for their fellow demonstrators, they need to re-evaluate why they are with SU. "Because I Care" says it all - from camera crew to VP's, it truly was a great memory for us now to share with others.

Shelli......this was my third convention and it was AMAZING! I have to agree with Sue on the first day when thousands of us entered general session and witnessed the entire home office lined up applauding us, thanking us ~ it was overwhelming in a good way :) I feel truly blessed to have Stampin' Up! in my life and am grateful for the opportunity to be associated with such an outstanding company! Thank you for all that you do for us and please thank your family as well as all the employees of SU. Will be anxiously awaiting to hear the changes, in the meantime, I am focused more than ever to grow my business so that I can march stage next year not only for 20K but 100K as well. Enjoy the family trip to the canyon and please get some much deserved rest!! Hugs :) Cindy in WI.

All I can say is WOW!!! Stampin' Up! has done it again! Convention was fabulous and fun was definitely had by all. I have never met a demonstrator that didn't rave about what a genuine and wonderful person you are. We all love you!
Happy Stamping!

I just sent an e-mail to Demonstrator Support saying the same thing! It was my 4th Convention and it was the best yet. The theme was perfect. All of the presentations were inspiring and always entertaining. It was the warmest and friendliest group of demonstrators I can remember. The stage design and the "Sweet Shoppe" were amazing. I loved every minute of it. Thank you!!! And it is less than a year until next year's already! : )
Fabulous photos, thanks so much for sharing.. had to miss convention this year due to personal stuff but plan to be there again next year! Hugs!!

I totally understand how you are feeling as I am feeling the same way. This was my 7th convention and I have been excited each year, maybe not as much as my first one, and I was not disappointed one bit this year. I came away inspired to recruit, hold more workshops and with enough ideas to last me until Leadership. I attend with my daughter and it such a powerful thing to share together. Thank you for your committment ideas and being you in front of all of us. Can't wait to see what comes next.

What a perfect year for this to be my first convention! My picture even made your blog (I'm the one getting my face painted). I've looked at pictures from previous years and felt such jealousy. Thank you for making this experience one I will never forget! The planning was so detailed and I am so full of ideas that I feel like I'm going to burst! I have been the kind of demonstrator to do one workshop a month. To show how this has affected me, I have 4 workshops booked for August. I hope that kind of success will continue!

Shelli,
I was so sad to miss this year, but I had fun looking a pictures and reading updates and so wished I was there! My husband and I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Italy for a short term mission trip for two weeks and I decided to do that this year! We had an amazing time serving the people of Italy. I will definately make it a priority to get to the regional in Portland, OR since it is the closest for me to get to as I am in Redmond, Wa. I can't wait to see you in October!
