Visiting the Dinosaurs

Ever since the Browns came home from Savannah at the beginning of the summer, I have been promising them a trip to Thanksgiving Point’s Museum of Ancient Life—the largest dinosaur museum in the world! And it’s right in our back yard!

I’ve taken all the other grandchildren there at some point in time, so the Brown children knew it was their turn! And since the boys start preschool tomorrow, I had run out of time—today it was!

As with all the other Thanksgiving Point trips, we had a wonderful time! The children had seen photos from the trips I’ve taken with the other kids, so they had an idea of what to expect. . . but seeing it all in real life was so much more exciting. The boys ran from one thing to another, calling me to their side with such enthusiasm! And little Phoebe, who always mimics her big brothers, would run after them, and with such theatrics and drama, echo their calls—“Grandma, come here! Look!” It was adorable!

For lunch we had dinosaur nuggets, and then each of the children got to choose a souvenir from the gift shop—Ashton got a snake that was longer than he is tall, Cooper chose a dinosaur, and Phoebe a book. I wore them out—I had to fight to keep Phoebe awake on the 15-minute ride home, pretending that the toy dinosaur was nibbling her feet and all sorts of other things to keep her from drifting off. When we got home, she took a three-hour nap!

So, another Thanksgiving Point success! I love that place!

Shelli I love this post. Being a Granny is the best thing ever! It is obvious that you love your grandkids and they love you! Precious children indeed!

That looks like such a fun place. It made me smile about trying to keep them awake on the short drive home. I have 3 toddlers and KNOW how important naps at home in bed are. If the sleep in the car even for 5 minutes, they might not nap at home! Are the Browns back for good?

As soon as I saw the picture, I knew where you'd gone. We love that museum! My family came to Convention with me this year as part of our family vacation. They explored each day while I was in classes, but I made them wait for a day when I could go too for a visit to this awesome museum.

We love Thanksgiving Point, as well. I remember when the dinosaur museum portion opened, and we took our oldest (2 years old at the time). He was thrilled, as were we. Our youngest son also loves it. Thanksgiving Point is wonderful! Your little grandkids are pretty cute, too.

Great/awesome photos of the children doing things instead of 'posing'. I love children in motion...Thanks for sharing!

I have been encouraging my husband to come with the kids during convention so he can visit beautiful Utah. After this post, I can share a new place that he can visit with the kids while I am in class. I will add this special place to the list. He loves museums. Thanks for sharing!

Love hearing about spending time with grandchildren. My husband and I take our 3 grandchildren 2-3 times a year to the Creation Museum near the Cincinnati, Ohio airport. They have many dinosaurs and lots of displays on God's creation. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thanks for sharing.
